I wanted to check with you on something so I work Saturday night for that big singles event But I'm off for most of the following week I'm going to the poetry reading at Haven on Wendsday [Wednesday, she says, not Valentine's Day.] and of course I'm running the Juno Februata event the day after that at Halo ...and Minseo roped me into going to Seollal at the Blind Tiger on Friday night too I was wondering if you'd want to come with me for any of that?
[This is what happens when you do thoughtful things, Rook. You get the witch thinking about romance and then stuff happens. Not that she's asking him with romance in mind, but, well, it's not not at the back of her mind at least.
Don't ask her to make sense of her thoughts and feelings right now. She is flying by the seat of her pants.]
You could come with me to all of them if you don't think you'd get sick of me by the end I wasn't sure the poetry and seollal events would be your thing so, you don't have to go to those if you don't want? and since I'm running the event at halo I can't really play until after it's all over so there's that too. but if you wanted to for any of them or all of them...
[She leaves the "I'd like that" unspoken. Unwritten.]
[ he isn't going to ask questions. what he is going to do however is stare at his phone for a minute with a blinding smile on his face because this is... yeah. okay. yeah.]
Pretty sure I won't get sick of you, I will teach you the banishment spell for me though in case you get tired of me. And I can just keep you company at Halo if you want, or keep people toned down if that would help?
I don't think a banishment spell is going to be necessary Encouragement at Halo wouldn't be a bad thing considering how people are going to be randomized into their pairings for the event...
As for the rest, you don't hate poetry or anything right? I don't want to drag you if you're not going to enjoy it or want a nap instead...
[She doesn't want to go with him if he's not going to be into it.]
You know, I was kind of responsible for a few famous sonnets. And-- whatever. I love-- I love art in all forms actually.
[ he isn't sure he has ever actually told anyone that. but he does; paintings, literature, sculptures, jewelry. Rook adores it all, has more than a few stashes in places to remember things long past.]
I can do slight encouragement too. Nothing too pushy though.
Mmm, I am going to let you guess first, see how close you get. It isn't something that I get to talk about often. But-- I mean, I love museums, some of the shit they have is hilariously wrong but, still fun. I collect too, moreso paintings and finery but--
Art is an expression that seems pretty specific to humanity. Angels and demons they don't-- we don't have that.
[ that is a sound that Rook is going to aim to hear a lot more of, especially now that he knows of her enjoyment with art. this is something that he has a lot of experience in, thanks mostly to his long existence and abilities.]
Mmm, I am fond of sculptures myself actually. I have... well I might have a few of the great missing ones hidden away, along with some interesting sketches of famous paintings before they became famous. Also, uh, jewelry. Though you might have figured that one with how often I wear it. I miss some of the old Persian styles...
[ okay this is information that he could have done with a long time ago. though he kind of likes that he had to earn this side of Eun. makes him treasure it all the more.]
Mmm, easy enough for me. I can just teleport you there with me if you are okay with that? There is more than one, it... well there were some pieces that were harder to move so I just kept them where they were. But any time you want to see them, just let me know. Uh, we will have to dress warm to see some of the really old literature though, keep that in the really cold, dry part of Russia.
[Is she okay with Rook teleporting her to secret treasure troves of art and culture? Let her think about this...]
When all of this Valentine's Day and New Year celebration stuff is over, let's pick a day and go. Wherever you want to show me first. I'm certain I'll want to see it all but you know what you have best so...you can decide what we see first?
[Who would have thought she'd ever experience this with him? Who would have thought she'd bond with him over art of all things? Eun's always been aware that she's more than she presents to people, but she never expected Rook to have such hidden depths. It seems a shame she almost missed out on it...]
[ Rook's laughter is bright at that, and though she can't see his smile, she is sure that she can hear it through his words.]
Mmm, that sounds like a plan, darling. Do you prefer paintings, sculptures, or artifacts more? Most places are a mixture but-- there are a few that are more heavily weighted towards one kind of art over the other. Oh! There is also a ... well not a library, but close enough.
[The idea of going to a library certainly perks her up further, and her curiosity is piqued but...]
I love it all, but why don't you take me to the paintings first. The ones that move you the most. Though you should be warned I'm bringing a folding stool or chair or something just in case...
[She doesn't know if there's seating where he has everything set up, but there have been pieces of art that have spoken to her, reached into her very soul and tugged at that nameless part of her spirit. There was a Monet piece she sat in front of for an hour once at the Smithsonian, when she went with her high school back East.]
Paintings first then, do you have a time period that you prefer? Or an artist? I mean, I don't have everything obviously but-- there are certain places with more of certain things. I... uh. I collected a lot of the the last two thousand years or so...
[ does he sound kinda awkward about that? maybe a bit. art is one of the things that made his whole punishment as a demon kind of worth while. beauty and expression in that way soothed him in a way. ]
Impressionists. [That much is easy.] I love impressionist art, and things with rich colors and contrast. Things with movement or feeling...
[For her, it's not a time period or a certain country. It's not a specific artist even. It's about the piece and what it makes her feel, and for Rook to have collected so much over the years she thinks it could be the same for him. At least in part. Pieces that moved him instead of just collecting for the sake of collecting.
His collections are a labor of love and passion, she thinks. Not of acquisition.]
I want to see your favorites too, though. Did you have certain time periods or styles you preferred...?

I didn't know this about you, that you loved art...
[Sorry, sex is going to be left by the wayside because art.]
Do you like visiting museums? Or historical buildings and that sort of thing?

That is your phone ringing, Rook.]

Art mean that much to you?
no subject
Yes, actually. I grew up near a lot of art and nature and museums. We had programs in school when I was growing up...
I'll leave the talk of poetry and sonnets for Wednesday, but I want hear about your collections, though, and the things you like best.

Is it easy to get to your collections? Could I come see the sculptures and the jewelry sometime? Please?
[Another rarity. For all that Eun is polite to most people, she doesn't actually say the word "please" all that often.]
